Clipstone Colliery, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
I spent a whole year of my life down that dark dusty hole ![]()
In 1922 the shafts were sunk at Clipstone colliery to exploit the top hard seam. Construction on the headstocks and winding house followed shortly after, standing at 65 meters they were once the second highest in Europe. The mine operated until July 2003 when it was decided the remaining reserves were no longer economical.

Hi Rob, a real change for you but another great shot, I like the foreground interest and the sublte tones in the sky Jane
The way oil/gas prices are they'll be opening this again soon.
Great image
Great composition and colour, lovely use of the foreground rubble.
Good lighting and compositon on this one Rob, good to see you posting & doing something different.
Chris
Rob,
A great shot, beautiful tones & well composed.
Cheers,
Gary.
Thanks Greg, not too sure when I will be posting again, there's been a few changes in my life and more to come yet.
I may be off ePz for quite a while in the near future due to these changes. But they are all good changes, and hopefully will be back posting with more regularity as a result ![]()

Hi Rob - hope all is well
Good to capture a piece of your past and a fine piece too ![]()
A very striking image, Rob! Striking colours, silhouettes and comp!
Cheers
Phil
The sky detail makes the colliery a grand silhouetted feature...good sharp exposure.
Doug.
Hello Rob - haven't looked in for awhile
God shot with appropriate sense of melancholy
Dave
