I was called out on assignment the other day. Smoky-Brown Sr. showed up at my backdoor, requesting that I document the burial of his son S-B Jr. who passed away unexpectedly.

Feeling guilty, because my pest guy had just worked in the yard, I figured, wth, I can do this. I did however, make a deal with Smoky that he never show up in my part of the world again.

It was a sunrise service, and junior was laid to rest on a soft thistle. He was almost good looking as he lay there caressed by the sunlight……………

Is there a cucaracha heaven?

Make the most of your day folks.

Anne

Love your story - what a poor cute bug. I also love the movement - is it rain or seed heads? Sorry you're not feeling better...

Quite extraordinary, the thistle seems to be actively involved in the story, as though it's in the process of enveloping the corpse. This is just amazing.

The thistle spikes echo the insect's legs brilliantly as if they're joined as one. I love the seeds flying off in all directions and the superb focus. WOnderful.
