This is a trio from Nara, a city also located at Western Honshu, not far from Kobe.
It has many Shinto shrines as well and a big park in which the deers run freely (as they are considered a sacred animal).
This "golden" guy is the "Great Buddha Vairocana", and dates from 752. It is made out of hundreds of tons of molten bronze, mercury and vegetable wax. Comes to an astonishing height of 16 m(53 ft), it wasn't easy to capture
V2 and V3 were shot outside of the temple were visitors light a traditional incense wishing for good luck or health.
