Went for a gentle walk on sunday and was surprised to see most of the fields with new growth.
Rape is one of the main crops in the area ...
but not sure if that is what I have seen.

Yes, seeing the same here. There's hope...
Nice simple composition, and you actually had some decent light!
Moira
Good light Barbara, that was a shock can't remember when the light was good for ages. good comp.
John
Lovely scene actually looks quite warm, I bet it wasn't though ![]()

I like the pattern of the furrows which has been brought out well by the lighting. Personally, I wouldn't have so much sky.
a nice pale blue wintery sky as the backdrop set this off nicely Barbara always like to see the trees naked to see their intricate structures fine capture trust the leg is well on the mend

I bet it doesn't look like that today! The snow around here this morning seems confined to grassy areas and roof tops, and not settling anywhere else, so not very photogenic - that's my excuse anyway for not venturing out with the camera! A fine capture Barbs, like the squiggly lines in the field on the left hand side ![]()

Whatever it is it needs to be hardy
although with all the rain it's probably paddy field rice!!
Dave
Tremendous light helped by the composition with the furrows working hard for you. Rape seems to me is usually spaced out more than this crop but I'm no farmer. You may have noticed.
Dougie
Stunning capture Barbara! One of your best!

Trev.
I thought oil seed rape straight away, may be a little too early, I do have some bulbs showing well though - well observed Barbs
Wonderful silhouettes...
Now here the green is very fresh and nice ! As up you mentioned mono conversions, here are two filters that don't cost a fortune like nik silver and do the same stuff in a different way!
Topaz b/w is very tweakable and comes with oodles of nice presets, they tend to be either antique or quite graphic. But you will make soon you own
Dxo film pack does colour and b/w film emulation. You can start off with very traditional monos and adapt them as you please. I also like the colour ones a lot. More subtle than topaz.
The price is about the same. Both packs can be tried for a long period for free.
