A nice shot Baz, maybe a composition with the yacht off-centre to the left would work too?

Darren.

The boat is very central, and I can see why you tried that and to make good use of the reflection. I know some consider it a cliche or sticking to the rules but it would look better with the boat off centre.

EDIT just seen Darren's post, I'd try the boat off to the right. In this situation shoot all three and decide when you get home Smile

Gorgeous colours, like the central positioning but agree it's always worth experimenting with positions. Stiil a cracking image though!

Thanks for all the feedback. I obviously went for the central positioning because I thought it looked right & correct enough to break the rules. I still think the placement of the boat suits the shot, but it is good to hear others' opinions.

I love images like this, nice and serene, bit like one of my shots, but yours is better.

A very restful scene. I like the central placement, but I know little about photographic 'rules'. The gentle tones are very appealing.

Like the composition as-is. Shifting left/right to move position of boat inframe would have lost the balance between the two pieces of land that jut in from left and right in my opinion. As for "rules" ... made for breaking in my very humble opinion! Some great shots in your portfolio Baz. Dave
