Some stairs here on campus. I thought it looked very interesting. Them going up and down and all over the place. What do you think?

Hi Ben,
Nice photo, I will say this though what I would have done is stepped back a bit and got all the stairs going down as well as the stairs going up in the one shot. And maybe cropped a bit from the top. Seeing that it is somewhere where you can get another shot of, try different angles and light, if you can even one at night. Have a look at my gallery and see if any of my photos can give you some ideas. Anyway hi from Adelaide capital of South Australia.

Tim

Tim,

Thanks alot for the comments! The picture I took is actualy a bit wider, to the right, however I cropped it out because there is another staircase going down on the right side that was in the picture some. But the origional shot has the full staircase going up. I will try shooting it differenting and see what i come up with. You have quite a collection on here, all excellent as well!! I will try go do what you said about getting the stairs going down and see what I come up with. Thanks alot from NYS ~ Ben

not sure if I agree with Tim. The focal point seems to be the light switch on the lower landing - its brighter there and the eye is always drawn to the highlights first, plus it stands out as being different from the pattern nature of the rest of the image. Given that, I think the darker top flight of steps in the top right is a perfect balancing partner for the focal point in the bottom right. The banisters are the link, leading the eye from one to the other and back. To conclude this minor thesis (deep breath), including stairs leading down would not add and may even distract the eye away from the balance in this image. I think that's why your crop of extra stairs off to the right worked.

Summary, great image, excellent composition, b&w is correct medium and exposure has been handled well
