Above the village of Tanygrisiau and in the shadow of the Moelwyn Mountains the ruins of a once flourishing slate industry remain. Here the quarrymens's barracks took on an ethereal quality as it loomed from the thick fog. Many thanks for the response to my portrait shot from here.

Sometimes you dont need loads of light and colour, the fog and muted light give it a almost haunted feel Smile

Proves you can take photos in any weather. Very nice tones Alun - low contrast in the background works well with the sharp rocks in the fg.

The mist does enhance the sense of desolation here, Alun: love this atmospheric sort of winter image.

Atmosphere you can cut with a knife, and a dynamic from the moving water.

Thanks Derek. A number of people have referred fo the muted tones and desaturated feel and during pp I did desaturate the greens and yellows to emphasise the stark, bleak mood. I was particularly lucky to have fog-difused light to balance the darker tones.

So inspirational to see quality work on a day when most of us would keep the camera in the bag. Just goes to show doesn't it!!
