Hi folks.

I've been visiting this part of Cornwall regularly for thirty or more years and never ever photographed this icon of the British landscape.

On the last evening of my latest trip I had not only the opportunity but also some decent light.

I'd had this tribute to Mr. Noton in my head for quite a while, so it was nice to be able to take advantage of the light for once, and also to have the unhurried time to shoot a few frames without the interruption of having to light the campsite bbq!
Thoroughly sated photographically, we then became thoroughly sated gastronomically with an excellent end-of-trip meal at the superb Beach restaurant in Sennen Cove. Lovely Smile

This is dedicated to Messrs Noton and Morgan.

Thanks for stopping by.
Large is probably worth a look if you have the time.

Cheers

Bill

Beautiful light and the slipway gives an almost abstract quality to the image,

Indeed a great photo and well done for capturing the light and ambiance that evening. Looking at it large, I prefer to crop off the very black lower part of the frame, which however does un-balance the composition a bit and it might gain by taking a sliver off the left hand side too... Have you tried a crop like that? Rgds., Adam

Stunning shot Bill. That's a real beauty. Has a real sense of approaching darkness.

I really like this Bill. It doesn't feel unbalanced to me and with everything centrally positioned it has a nice geometric sense about it!

Many thanks everyone! Most appreciated. (I'm still trying to find the time to catch up with everyone, too!! Busy busy busy...:-()

Interesting point, Adam. As a rule I often experiment with various crop ratios. In this case I preferred the geometric simplicity of my original framing, and don't really think cropping would improve the image.

Cheers
