If I were you, I'd put a light pointing up where the ground is. That'd add some bounce light to the underisde of the snowballs and stuff. Tint the light blue. I reckon you'll like it.

oh well the trajedy is that light does not bounce in 3dmax and i had to put light so that the snow could glow. i will see if i can incorporate your suggestion.. thanks

I know. You have to put lights in to simulate the bounce. A directional pointing upwards ought to do it.
