The idea is nice, as is the timing.
You appear to have performed some selective colouring here which you didnt mention in the description, as the cockerel has not hint of colour at all.
Im guessing, - but if you have done that, I would have much preferred to see the bird in colour. The colour of his comb is an odd red colour in this treatment.
I would also suggest the shadow could be darker to add more impact.
Ive loaded a mod with a few changes as suggested,
