Took this at Kingsbury water park, it was a a bit of a rushed job as I was on the back of one train when he came round the corner given more time could have done better.

Good fun image, as you say taken as the oppertunity arises. Nice subject and composition. I would be tempted to crop the picture as much of the background does not lend much to the image. Good job.

I took the liberty of making a mod, added a bit more contrast so to make B&W rather than shades of grey Wink levelled the track and train a little, and cropped the excess from top and side.
hope you like the mod.

it makes an interesting shot Ben with the large bloke sat on the little train and I like the way he is only just visible through the smoke. But the shot particularly the front of the train isn't very sharp. It's not easy to take a quick shot from a train with a 300mm lens so camera shake may be an issue or it may be depth of field. It's difficult to say without having your camera settings. It always helps the CG team to have aperture, shutter speed etc etc so we can work out what is going on in a pic.

A couple of good mods to tighten up the processing.

It's a shot with lots of potential which as you recognise could have been improved with more time.

Excellent potential with the steam but your technical execution leaves a bit to be desired. The main problem is the lack of sharpness, and it is rather beyond salvation in software - almost definately camera movement.

Your conversion needs to be a little darker and with more contrast. You should use the channel mixer or equivelent, but you need a sharp image in the first place. We would then argue over should it be the face or the engine sharp - I go for the face.

I like this, you got the shot - that's the most important thing. Some technical issues already mentioned are valid though the image is strong, to me. Prefer the first version, and the first mod slightly more than that.

Thanks for all the feed back, I agree the shot needs to be sharper. I like the mods that have been uploaded the first is more to my liking, I am not sure about making photos off centre?
