My sons guitar with a bottle of Bushmills malt whisky. Please tell me whats wrong in your opinion i did do this as a colour which is on my PF but then i thought it looked better in mono ? Looking again this morning the glass should be on the right hand side of the bottle to show up better ? Thanks in advance for your time.

It's the thought of a spillage that haunts me ..... it may not help the image (which I like) but would give a boost to positive thought, and cheer me up no end. And arrghhhh it's an empty bottle!!!SadSadSad Seriously I find the light behind the bottle and glass as well as the plectrum to be a bit of a distraction. It's made for mono though.

Yes stick the plectrum between the strings.

Nice B&W though.

Works perfectly for me.
Sun is streaming through the window, its the morning of the night before, the bottle is empty because it was a late night, the glass is knocked over exactly where it should be...near to the chair, the pick was thrown down in frustration due to tiredness...and general worse for wear, even the Guitar has been left resting against the seat instead of being in its Guitar Stand. I would perhaps clone out the highlights on the rug behind the Amp and possibly make the pick stand out more, especially if there is printed design or writing on it.

Strangely enough when I saw the thumb for this I wondered if you were brave enough to show a wee bit spillage from the glass on the Amp, since the kit belongs to your Son I guess that wouldn't have been wise.

Yes I like it and the Title.

Doug.

Hiya John
Thanks for your comments and yes the bottle was empty and at the time of shooting i thought it was right but maybe it could have gone either way ? The plectrum i was going to stick between the strings but if you look the capo is on the neck and i thought the plec aswell would be to much but again it's a possible. As for a mono yes i agree fully, thanks for your imput it's great to see what others think. SmileSmile

Steve ..... again i refer to above with Johns reply and point taken . thanks again for your time.

Doug .... You got it right on with the story, a guy losing his woman and hugging the guitar well knocking back the hard stuff. I didn't know what cloning is until your comment here and now i understand so a big thanks for that comment and yes i agree fully taking out that rug at the back would be a treat. I'll have a go now i know what it means !!!! lol .

Ben ..... I'm not sure i got your name right ( sorry if i didn't ) ? But modification of it is fabulous i love thanks a million. I am very very new to this game and it's all just me playing around right now but seeing what you did made me see i was to harsh with the tones. You made it softer and it also seems alittle clearer to me and i love it. cheers for that i'm really really made up with it. It took me ages to get the picture right as i wanted it and i liked it when i finished it but i love it now.

Thanks to you all for helping me out, i showed my son the picture tonight and he was well impressed. cheers guys Grin Grin Grin

The original colour shot has a better mood with the warm colours. This version removes the capo box which is a good idea, but of course better would be to take the shot without the box, as its a distraction. To me, you are trying to get too many thinks into the shot, - including the glass. If it has to be in, having the glass with some whiskey in it would look better.

I used your original as a base for the mods. I removed the capo box by cloning over it; I straightened the shot so the bottle is vertical and not tilted; I darkened the background.

For the mono conversion, this one has lost a lot of the character of the original, and its warmth. Warmth in mono is indicated by darker tones, and this on is too bright, which also shows the ISO noise.

I used the original for the mono mod, and produced a darker mod using the channel mixer method.

Straightening the image has caused less of the guitar to be visible, but I dont think it affects the mood of the shot.

I tried to upload this comment hours ago and EPZ crashed, so its late, - the mods are there though. Its me that loaded both mods.

Hope this is helpful,

Regards

Willie

I'm with Willie. Prefer the colour - this is a bit too stark and there are too many bright highlights, the effect increased by the rather contrasty conversion. Other than colour, would have gone for a nice deep sepia.

I did shoot this as colour to start with but i think B+W might be more atmospheric. I guess it's a matter for the individual but either way i'm happy with the end result in both ways. As for sepia i'll have to give it a go and see. I do agree my B+W version is stark and i do like what Willie did with it and softened it down. Thanks for your comments Paul i'm just pleased anyone took anytime at all to say anything.... cheers Grin
