I had to put something up in celebration of the beautiful hot and sunny weather we are having. So here is something beautiful and hot, like the weather!

Hi Steve, lovely model, but your lighting is somewhat off. Her upper left leg is too bright and has a harsh shadow on it. Her face is in shadow and you could have done with a reflector to take it away. If you want to get picky, the grass is over her legs and arms. If you are looking to aspire to take shots like the pro's, it's little things like this they cover in their work. Then they go into Photoshop to brush things up even more. I suppose that's why they earn a small fortune and the amateurs don't. The only other bit of advice I can give is, look at the work of the top pro photographers and look closely at the details. Everything has to be perfect for them. Are we perfectionist like they are? Not just yet. Amateurs do it for the fun and enjoyment it brings them, whereas a pro does it for a living.

I don't do it for a living, only for the enjoyment !!! I'd had a whole different attitude if I did it for a living !

-would have been nice to have somebody holding a big reflector to put the whole model in shade and out of the direct harsh sunlight. I also would have chosen to have a gold reflector bouncing a litte warming light into the face and adding gentle catchlights.
-Would also have been nice to have been alone on a beach in the Fiji islands instead of on a dune on Formby sands on what has turned out to be the busiest weekend of the year so far with coachloads of screaming kids running around.
-Would have been nice not to have a wind blowing fine sand into eyes, nose and ears and into expensive camera equipment which I can not afford to replace any time soon.

So I know the picture is a long loooong way from perfect! I put it up for fun, something beautiful and hot on a beautiful and hot day. I like the picture, it's of a wonderfully pretty girl on a sunny day, and it makes me smile.

Hi Steve, you'll have to come to Tenerife, bring your modeal with you and I will get you to the best photographic locations on the Island where you can get those pro shots and I'll hold the big reflector for you and promise not to kick sand in your faces Wink As I said in my previous comment, you do it for the fun and enjoyment and also to share it with others, which I'm sure we all appreciate.
