Well, finally I'm able to upload again!

I have decided to instill a sense of history in this upload.

This is an old photo from my first ever session doing proper portraits.
The subject is Samantha, a wonderful friend at the time and a work collegue who gracefully agreed to pose for me.

I was definately the most nervous of the two of us, I even had trouble remembering how my camera worked!!

Lighting is natural light through patio doors, and I even had a projector screen on the other side to bounce some light back.

It is relevent to the present day because I have used a scan to experiment and learn new things in photoshop. An old paper background layer, a texture layer and toning to give that vintage photo look.

The digital age is here!

What a great effect - well done. I have a drawer full of photos like this taken by my father in the 1940-50's. You've got the ageing spot on. Good shot.

Very nice mod, the picture suits an untoned black and white - it is in this format originally.
Not so sure on the border, I think the black is too wide and dominant and distracts attention from the picture. I would prefer a thin black pencil line here!!

graceland
it's all only my personal opinion!

however, a little tip, -sample a colour/tone from the picture itself, and then use that in the border (pencil line again).
