Stunning! Love the colour tones. Very artistically created........Sandy
Lovely natural looking portrait, and those eyes look amazing.
have a great weekend
Beautifully Done and Composed
Reminiscent of another image I've seen somewhere....now where was it?
Anyway it is stunning, beautifully lit and those eyes....
Stunning, first class photography.....it had better get some decent awards here! - Jonathan
Macurry homage, the eye's have it !! Ron.
well done ron
this is my attempt at his "afghan girl" turned into a beautiful woman
This is a superb rendition of that classic McCurry image........I guess it works on all levels as the original had a certain rustic beauty about it as well, which is what made the original such an arresting and iconic image. If those eyes on the original were on someone, for want of a better description, "less attractive", then I don't think the image would have worked. This on the other hand is MADE to look beautiful, each image standing alone in what they offer......this is beautiful Barry, really very, very well shot indeed....love it!
Great eyes ,and fine details and tones.
Good work Barry.
I hope that you or the model don't mind me saying this but the image has to me, a peasant/ agriculturalist type. Its just that it reminds me of the beauty that lives in the small village. I know its called Afghan woman to me its English Peasant Girl.
No matter what one reads into it you have to admit that its a lovely bit of processing matched only by a beautiful girl.
Please pass on my complements to the young lady. Thank you.
The Steve McCurry "original" had a power and a haunting quality that this can't possibly have, but I see the allusion and it's cleverly done. A beautiful image in it's own right, gorgeous green eyes, wonderful colour combinations and a winner all the way. I doff my cap to your skills.
I doff my cap to your skills.
The quality of your work, particularly this series, constantly amazes me.
Absolutely superb Bread.....pure quality.
Quality! Thought that the last one was my fave' but have changed my mind now! Mesmerising eyes and gorgeous rich colours! Excellent work B'as always
I love this shot & your work, it's fantastic, but how do you get that effect? Is it done in Photoshop or is it the lighting you use??
Once again lovely shot.
Just a slight turn to her left is all that is needed Barry for ultimate sucess
Quality Barry, simple as
Your own interpretation of that iconic shot and I think you've done it beautifully Barry. Wonderful clarity in the eyes. Superb work.
The red and the green really stand well together, superb work.
i have had to come back to this, something made me think that this would be even stronger with a crop above the eyes into a letterbox image.
this would relly make this a first class and stonger visual content on a different line to McCurry's image.
outstanding work love the colour combination the detail and that gaze.... wonderful
This is a superb homage to Steve McCurry, well presented.
Superb image again top marks.
Mesmerising gaze and what a beautiful combo of reds and greens and tones !

Congrats Barry on POTW, great accolade for a great series
Just had to be POTW, congratulations.
Out of all the EC's this had POTW written all over it, well deserved Barry.
well done portrait, reminds me of an old National Geographic's cover, I think the girl was also afghan and she had most beautiful eyes too like this model
Incredible on almost every level.
The original was a stunning image and this is an excellent recreation. Everyone has commented on her eyes, which of course are beautiful, but you have captured her hands fantastically well. Hands can sometimes look oversized, not at all attractive and overposed. These hands look very much part of the story and are as beautiful as her eyes.
Well worthy of the PotW award.
I could happily give all of your images my award B' - this one really stood out for me though!
Congrat's for your EC & POTW awards too!
So much has been said about this image that there is little more left to be said, its a real stunner and is as good as my most favorite image of all time by Steve McCurry. Stunning. Most deserved POTW & EC. Colin
THANK YOU SARAH AND MICHAEL FOR YOUR AWARDS
Those eyes are full of intrigue.
This is superb work, really striking
The eyes have it! Great portrait,
A great shot, no doubt. Was this done in a studio?
Congratulations! This is an outstanding and beautiful natural portrait. I love absolutely everything about it. Wonderful!
A gorgeous portrait! What fantastic eyes she has.
I don't know which one was the original or whether it was taken by a Mr Steve McCurry - but is it a cover shot from a Nat Geo magazine you're talking about? If I remember correctly the really big thing about that picture (aside from it being a breathtakingly superb shot) is she was young Afghan women with "green eyes" making her some kind of genetic throwback. Course I'm probably wrong.
