I got this shot a few days back and have just got around to looking at it.

Two things that I found interesting:

I wouldn't have thought it possible to get the level of detail without a dedicated macro lens.

The other thing was the streamlined shape of the wasp's body - I've never seen that body contour before, reminds me of the pre-war Auto-Union recing cars.

(I'm assunmng it is a Queen Wasp and not a Hornet?)

i like it...i take it you were at the full 200mm on this one... nice detail...just my opinion but i would bring the colour out a touch...

Very impressive, but then this IS the 70-200 F Wink

Did you extension tubes, or is this heavily cropped? Or is the wasp THAT big?

Sorry Matt, should have said, its a massive crop, only about 10% of full frame (We get big wasps down here - but not that large! Smile ) I've been playing with tubes but haven't found how to get the best results yet.
