My guess would be 'if only we used barges instead of cars!' Has a nice feel to it, but think it would probably be better either in colour, or sepia toned. Colin
Ditto Mark's comments. It also suffers from being very grainy, but it may well have been 'treated' that way.
I also like the idea of a muted sepia effect. Maybe a light powder dusting of sepia with a white faded edge like those old pictures hanging on the walls of your gran's house. Hmmm.
