avro vulcan 6

avro vulcan 6Great shot of an iconic aircraft, I might have added a bot more sky to the bottom of the image to save the wing touching the edge - just a thought.

plymouth hoe, devon

plymouth hoe, devonHi Megan,

Quote: hello, i welcome all comments on photos

I like the way you have kept the colour of the lighthouse leaving the rest B/W. Grin A couple of points I would mention. I wonder why you have chosen to crop part of the bottom of the lighthouse off, might have been better to have included a bit more of it. I might have cloned out that dark cloud in the top right, also the lighthouse appears to be leaning to the right a tad. Hope you don't mind critique. Grin

Cley Mill 1

Cley Mill 1A nice image of beautiful windmill, but a pity about the tops of the bushes running along the bottom left. They could easily have been cloned out . . . . just a thought. Grin

Lower Falls

Lower FallsFirstly a nicely composed image and with a rainbow - a bonus.

It's a bit over exposed and a pity about the burnt out area at the end of the rainbow. Not an easy subject with bright water and dark areas. I would guess it was a sunny day, it's better to photograph waterfalls on a cloudy day. If you expose for the main part of the waterfall you could then bring up the darker areas up in Photoshop. Do you have a highlight screen on your camera? If you have, you can see where areas are burnt out and then make adjustments. Take this kind of shot in manual Grin

As I said a nice composition but try again when the sun is not shining on the water. Grin

Hope this helps a little!

Fierce looking gannet.

Fierce looking gannet.A tremendous shot, well done!

I wonder if a touch of Curves might make it even better, just a thought. Grin

Pioneer House

Pioneer HouseA really interesting image - what desert is it in the middle of? Also if you have Photoshop I would add a little bit of Curves and it will bring the image alive. At the moment it's a little bit light and needs more contrast.

I've just tried it and makes a marked improvement. Grin

A beautiful evening ...

A beautiful evening ...A pleasent scene but it's over sharpened. Also I would have reduced the ISO to 200, reduced the shutter speed to around 100 then increase your aperture to as high as you could get it - certainly more than f5!

Nice image & exposure, fantastic sky. However the bale of hay is too close to the edge of the image, I might have given a bit more room under the bale too.

Pont -Y- Gwaith Bridge

Pont -Y- Gwaith Bridge
Quote: It could have been improved by waiting about 3 seconds longer for the people to move. I also think it would be worth increasing contrast and maybe even trying a b&w conversion.

Yes a pleasent image, I would also have removed the bright orange ball on the river bank, reduced the shutter speed and increased the aperture from f/5.6 to say f/11 . . . . all constructive critique. Wink

Clevedon Seafront

Clevedon SeafrontThe image does have a calm & tranquil feel to it but I would crop it to just above the top two clouds on the right and possibly some off the bottom. I would also crop out the seagul that is just flying into the image. Also near the top right of centre ther is a mark on your sensor.

Clevedon Pill Estuary

Clevedon Pill EstuaryI hope you don't mind constructive critique but I feel there is very little interest in this image, there is no point of interest whatsoever and it is very flat. I think it needs the levels adjusting and possibly adding a touch of Curves. Just a couple of thoughts Grin

Polly Anther II

Polly Anther III like the image but you have cropped some of her hair off, her right foot is too close to edge of the image and I would have cloned out those black marks to the right of her bum!

Temple Of The Sun

Temple Of The SunExcellent shot & I like the composition. Well done, I know the spot well.

Personally, I might have taken out the halo around the temple, and I would have put your name in the bottom right corner . . . . just a couple of thoughts. Smile

Padley Gorge

Padley GorgeA nicely composed image and good use of shutter speed. However . . . .
Quote: and welcome any thoughts, observations and criticisms of my photos.

. . . . my only critique is the burnt out area where the water is dropping into the lower level. My eye is drawn straight to it. Not an easy shot and a tad over exposed. If you had reduced the exposure you could have brought up the darker areas in Photoshop . . . . just a couple of thoughts. Smile

I hope it does better than my only shot taken in Padley Gorge!

level crossing

level crossingGood image showing speed but you have several marks on your sensor/mirror! There are at least 5 spots in the sky in the top right corner of the image,

Egret II

Egret IIA lovely image of a Egret with a great reflection Callum but as Neil says it's over exposed unfortunately. A very difficult image to get right as the bird is pure white and the surrounding area is dark. If you can with your camera, it would have been better to have used spot metering, then the bird would have been correctly exposed (showing feather detail) but the surrounding area would be dark but you could have brought this area up slightly in Photoshop. Hope this helps for the future.

Pure and Simple

Pure and SimpleI also like the treatment and composition of this image too. I like the idea of it being close to one edge but personally speaking I feel it is a tad too close to the edge. I also agree with sam about the top of her head being cut off.

The Bride

The BrideA nice happy shot of the bride but it's a bit on the dark side and not quite in focus. I have adjusted the levels to brighten it up and sharpened it a tad. Top of the brides headress is cropped off.

Berlin

BerlinIt's a tad underexposed.

Wymess Bay Station

Wymess Bay Station
Quote: even although the original does'nt look completely balanced, I think the modified image now leans markedly to the left... thanks for the input but I would prefer the original

I agree.

I think the original is great. OK the structure to the left isn't straight in the original. . . . so what, it's a good interesting image and it would be impossible to get everything absolutely straight in this situation. Well done!
