Pont -Y- Gwaith Bridge

Pont -Y- Gwaith Bridge
Quote: It could have been improved by waiting about 3 seconds longer for the people to move. I also think it would be worth increasing contrast and maybe even trying a b&w conversion.

Yes a pleasent image, I would also have removed the bright orange ball on the river bank, reduced the shutter speed and increased the aperture from f/5.6 to say f/11 . . . . all constructive critique. Wink

Clevedon Seafront

Clevedon SeafrontThe image does have a calm & tranquil feel to it but I would crop it to just above the top two clouds on the right and possibly some off the bottom. I would also crop out the seagul that is just flying into the image. Also near the top right of centre ther is a mark on your sensor.

Clevedon Pill Estuary

Clevedon Pill EstuaryI hope you don't mind constructive critique but I feel there is very little interest in this image, there is no point of interest whatsoever and it is very flat. I think it needs the levels adjusting and possibly adding a touch of Curves. Just a couple of thoughts Grin

Nona

NonaLovely image of a beautiful flower. I think the image would be even better if a small amout of Curves were applied to it which would bring it alive, at the moment it's a tad flat . . . . just a thought. Grin

Polly Anther II

Polly Anther III like the image but you have cropped some of her hair off, her right foot is too close to edge of the image and I would have cloned out those black marks to the right of her bum!

Taylor

TaylorNice shot & nice angle but I feel it's a bit flat, add a touch of curves and it would come alive . . . . just a thought. Grin

Temple Of The Sun

Temple Of The SunExcellent shot & I like the composition. Well done, I know the spot well.

Personally, I might have taken out the halo around the temple, and I would have put your name in the bottom right corner . . . . just a couple of thoughts. Smile

Padley Gorge

Padley GorgeA nicely composed image and good use of shutter speed. However . . . .
Quote: and welcome any thoughts, observations and criticisms of my photos.

. . . . my only critique is the burnt out area where the water is dropping into the lower level. My eye is drawn straight to it. Not an easy shot and a tad over exposed. If you had reduced the exposure you could have brought up the darker areas in Photoshop . . . . just a couple of thoughts. Smile

I hope it does better than my only shot taken in Padley Gorge!

level crossing

level crossingGood image showing speed but you have several marks on your sensor/mirror! There are at least 5 spots in the sky in the top right corner of the image,

Egret II

Egret IIA lovely image of a Egret with a great reflection Callum but as Neil says it's over exposed unfortunately. A very difficult image to get right as the bird is pure white and the surrounding area is dark. If you can with your camera, it would have been better to have used spot metering, then the bird would have been correctly exposed (showing feather detail) but the surrounding area would be dark but you could have brought this area up slightly in Photoshop. Hope this helps for the future.

Pure and Simple

Pure and SimpleI also like the treatment and composition of this image too. I like the idea of it being close to one edge but personally speaking I feel it is a tad too close to the edge. I also agree with sam about the top of her head being cut off.

The Bride

The BrideA nice happy shot of the bride but it's a bit on the dark side and not quite in focus. I have adjusted the levels to brighten it up and sharpened it a tad. Top of the brides headress is cropped off.

Berlin

BerlinIt's a tad underexposed.

Wymess Bay Station

Wymess Bay Station
Quote: even although the original does'nt look completely balanced, I think the modified image now leans markedly to the left... thanks for the input but I would prefer the original

I agree.

I think the original is great. OK the structure to the left isn't straight in the original. . . . so what, it's a good interesting image and it would be impossible to get everything absolutely straight in this situation. Well done!

Quote: The blue tone is the natural effect of the light in this area

Snow will have a blue cast to it wherever you live, not just in your area! It is the reflection from a blue sky, the human eye corrects it but a camera can’t. If you particularly want a blue cast to a snow image there is nothing more to say, and mikbee thinks it adds to the "coldness" of the image. However if you want a more natural looking snow scene you need to make some adjustments to your camera. Try over exposing by (possibly) one stop . . . . that’s what richsr meant in the first comment. If you can, try a different W/B setting. Do you use Photoshop? If you do, the blue cast can be taken out by selecting the snow area then reducing the blue content.
See this image
link the snow is how it should look, white.
No offence meant, just trying to help.

Quote: Critique Wanted

I like the idea of this image but just a personal opinion of course, I think it would have looked better if the bench had been facing into the image rather than out of it. Also perhaps a square crop with a tad more space to the bottom & right.

Platform hug

Platform hugIt gets my vote for an interesting subject. Personally, I might have used a slightly slower shutter speed to show that the train was moving, it looks stationary at the moment. Also it's very red, you could try taking some of the red out in Photoshop. But perhaps a better idea is turn it to B/W, I have just done this and it looks good.

Just friend

Just friendNice mono image but I feel it's a bit over sharpened. Also I would have cloned out that white blob in the top left corner.

Beach UmbrellasNice idea but a pity the green one is so close to the bottom.

Summer Bride

Summer Bride
Quote: Not sure the exposure is quite right

It does look glowy sunny but personally speaking, it is over exposed. Not only is one side of her face burnt out but also her dress has lost a lot of detail. I would have reduced the exposure and used a reduced amount of fill flash.
And again personally speaking I don't like the branch on the right cutting through her arm.
