With the atrocious weather that we have had lately and again today, I thought that I would upload this picture , but I don't think that my own feeling, today, of "nearer" is the same sentiment that was meant by the poet.
Likewise, these days, even in fine weather after I have spent an hour, or so, of hard graft in the garden, and I rest my old, aching, bones on the seat near this plaque and read the third line of the verse, I can't help but think that perhaps I am getting too much 'nearer' than is desired. LOL.
The feeling soon goes away, though, when I open a can. ![]()
I hope that you like my 'Silly Sunday' offering.

Silly and serious...
I was out with our local 'In Bloom' group the other week and got a shot of a plaque reading 'One man in the garden is worth two in the house.'
Moira
Aww! A lovely sentiment and a wonderful, detailed capture Dad!

PS: you have years of photography and gardening left in you yet!!! xxx
Oh my...I LOVE that verse, Brian! Gonna jot it down.
Your write-up cracked me up where you opened a can
Yeah, open that can every now and then...and don't think about getting nearer! That's an order, soldier.

Thanks for sharing this plaque with us, and so beautifully too.
Andrew
A fine shot of this fine plaque Brian, as to your comments re your gardening efforts (and woes) these days, I can well understand where you're coming from and totally agree, though my restoration is a large tot of 'the water of life' rather than what is available from a can!
Many thanks for your p.m's, sorry I didn't read the first one sooner, will be replying in due course, meantime it's catch up time, which isn't being helped by a contrary site/computer/ISP provider, take your pick!
Rgds., Jim
