I found this, dead[/i] moth on the conservatory carpet, so I took a few quick shots. I then tried to pick it up and it flew away. So I hope that it wasn't having a munch.
Does anyone know the species. Thank you all for looking.

Brian

I thought you had a new job Brian when I saw V1.
I thought it was the Popes hat here !!
So if I thought it was the Popes hat,
there in NO CHANCE of me knowing the species !!

Looks like an Angle Shades (Phlogophora meticulosa) to me. Great shot.

You certainly took advantage of your 'dead' moth --these are wonderfully descriptive images!

Good shot Brian. I agree with Podgod. This moth is definitely an Angle Shades.

Great captures, I had no idea of the species but have looked it up after the IDs above: Angle Shades Moth

It certainly has lovely markings!

What a beautifully marked moth Brian, when I saw these cracking detailed close ups I thought you'd been copying the master of the moth macros, Ade Osman's techniques

Lol...I love that...how it played dead and then it fluttered off Grin

Superb close-ups of this beautiful fella, Brian. Very interesing face and head he has. I especially like the sticky out bit on top of its head Smile

Never seen or heard of an Angles Shades Moth and this really is a treat.

Not had much time to have a look through the vast archives of portfolios, but yours caught my eye, simply because of the quality of your rather eclectic mix of images.

Regards Nathan

Super close ups Brian
