Welcome to 2012!
Another year's gone accompanied by warm winds and rain. The little snow we had has gone as well. Springlike air, grey sky and drizzle marked the first days of the new year.
I thought, you might like a picture from the past, showing how it should be at this time of the year.

I hope the new year found you all in good health and spirits.
Carpe diem,
Johanna

Perfectly exposed and captured, Johanna. Clear blue skies here this morning, but very cold. Carol

Yes, this especially well exposed, Johanna; the snow is right and there are plenty of little shadows to emphasise the shapes.
No snow here, but plenty of ice . . .

As ever my friend, you pluck wisdom from the air like snowdrops in the spring to show us what can be, if only we get out and look. The holidays are over and we must start using the opportunities that the light offers, I'm sorry to talk of this when many of you will be returning to toil and the routine of work.
But take heart your turn will come, the weekend is never that far away and don't waste it by lying in bed when you can be out seizing the day.

A lovely image Johanna and such a great short lesson for us all.

"under a blanket of snow" applies here.
We have no snow yet that has stayed on the ground. Very odd for Maine, usually we are knee deep by now.

A super capture, Johanna, with all those little heaps of snow Smile
Horrendous weather here, very chilly out, and we have very high winds and rain - it kept me awake the night Sad
Hope you have a great and very Happy New Year Smile

Just the same for us too. I would really welcome a nip in the air to bring us a spot of snow. The world always looks such a brighter and fresher place then.

Nice abstract shot Johanna, our snow had all gone too, but we got a wee sprinkling today, about 2-3cm. more winter like too as the temperature never got up to zero. Haven't taken a single shot yet, in fact, have never been outside the door, but that will all change tomorrow as I have to take Mary for an eye checkup, she needs new glasses.

I love to see natural phenomena like this, which is fleeting and will probably never be exactly the same again, like cloud formations. This is so well seen and captured, great use of light and shade to emphasize the drifting of the snow.
