The apple came down it had to fall...

is a line in a Runrig song, that came to my mind as soon as I saw our apple tree lying flat in the garden.
About 100 kg of apples was too much for this small tree. We had to harvest far too early, and the tree was not to be rescued... a shame, but hey... that's life!
I am still drowning in fruits... apples... and another prune tree is turning blue...
I can't remember when we had such a lot of fruits, where ever you look, every tree is loaded.
Hope you all are doing well, and excuse my absence on this site, but the garden is asking every second of my time.

Cheers,
Johanna

Look a bit like our Cox apples Johanna, very tasty they are. Sad about the tree. It's been affected like the one on the moor,

What a shame about the loss that what was clearly a very productive tree. I lost a Victoria Plum this Spring to some unidentified cause. Looks as though at least you have a huge crop of apples its leaving you.

What a pity to lose such a good and productive tree Johanna. I always think it is such a shame when trees either fall down or are cut down. They take years to grow and 5 minutes to fall. !!

Our last apple tree when it was loaded got knocked down when a bear climbed up it. He then ate all the apples and pooped applesauce all over our yard. So that was the end of that tree. Great images Johanna...............Sandy

I thought this one had been felled during the recent storms, we've had a lot of heavy rain and strong winds at times just recently. You've got quite a harvest here and will have your work cut out to deal with all those apples!

Such a shame, but at least you are able to make good use of every part of the tree. Applewood smells so wonderful when it burns, and the pies will be a tasty treat this winter.

What a shame Johanna. A lot of trees have fallen in our region today but that was because of 70 mph Gales.

I suppose we can call you the apple pie lady now Johanna Grin
Pity to lose such a productive tree in its prime too by the looks of things. Was reading about the gales in Scotland caused by the remnants of Hurricane Katia, they were saying the trees were particularly vulnerable because they still had so much foliage, I'd never thought of that! In your case it was too heavy with apples, maybe you were cutting the grass too short around its base and as a consequence weakened its support Smile

how sad
the tree had to come down like this,
anyway it managed to supply a bounty before the end

can you try to replant it
or was it broken off

i have an apple tree in my garden
and would be devastated if mine came down
