Taken in 2012 in Havana.. 2 versions one colour and the other mono.
The colour version gives more realism to the image....so it's No 1 version for me......... The tones in No 1 are superb.
Usually go for mono..but version one for me on this occassion.
seeing the crocs he's wearing etc gives t that extra touch of realism..greta work as always Simon.
Lovely image, I took those very stairs in January but yours works so much better with the little boy in them. Great image
You're certainly not disappointing with your images from the wonderful Havana Simon! I have to award another GEA - there's no way I can't!! This is so powerful! Btw - it has to be the colour version - it adds so much more.
Hey Ann! thought you would like this image , thanks for GE award!
Hi Simon - I think we'll rename the GE gallery this week the Burnblue gallery!!
Thanks alot for your generous thoughts Ann.
Both are stunning studies. I prefer V1 because the muted colours suit the subject so well.
V1 for me.
Great composition, colours and an all round great image.
V2 for me
Both excellent, but the mono is the finer image IMHO
Mono Simon...both superb tho.Been waiting all day to award a pic so have mine.
Thanks Tom and Julia for UAs
Top work as always Si, I can't choose between these as they both have their merits
I didn't want to look in case it was too upsetting.
Prefer colour - it conveys the rich and poor.
Love the muted colour tone. Another awesome image.........Sandy
Compelling is just the right word for this.
Compelling indeed! Both superb Si, V1 for me but only just.
Wonderful shot Si, and perfect title.
V1 for me, as the colour version makes it easier to spot the former opulence of the surroundings, which I think is important to the image. Also, the plastic bag is more of a feature in the B&W version and, to me, this detracts from the image. The processing in the mono is superb though and I love the etxture is shows in the steps.
Wonderful light and texture with an excellent connection with the subject.
Mono for me.
