Harrier Hawk1292 cropped by paulknight

Harrier Hawk1292 cropped

This is a cracking shot, the focal range is more likely to be 900mm with the 300mm + 2XTC and the cropped sensor of the D200.
Well spotted that taken.

At Last A Greenfinch from Dorset by Trev_B

At Last A Greenfinch from Dorset

A cracking shot for lots of reasons, eye catching pose, great BG. Sharpness that really pops the subject off the image. Fine detail of the bird and perch.
A real gem of a shot.

De fence by NDODS

De fence

This is a fantastic image with a great DOF that adds so much.
The rectangle is a better shape than square which has been suggested, because it allows you to progress through the image and appreciate the curves of the chainlink. The focal point is totally correct for this image with the FG slightly blurred and the BG even more so.The mono really adds to the feel as well.
This deserves a lot of credit, very well done.

Prickly Perch. by mossy

Prickly Perch.

My thoughts on this image are that the colour of the subject and BG compliment each other really well
The light look really good allowing for a low ISO and a great catchlight in the eye, it may have been beneficial to adjust the exposure comp slightly due to the brightness.
There is space in the image of which the bird is looking at which adds appeal.
I think this shot has a lot of good points, nice image, well taken.

Love Motion by ZWYoung

Love Motion

Firstly welcome to Ephotozine.

A great image taken with great timing.
The freeze on the wings and the brightness show you have a great talent for photography, however the sharpness and colouration looks like it might be slightly over done in post production.

craggwildlife by Craggwildlife

craggwildlife

This is a magical capture of the LTT.
The BG compliments the colouration very well.
IMHO, the bluring of the twig below is a slight distraction from what is a truely great shot.
If this is a post capture PS layered Gaussian Blur, it may improve the image by allowing the twig to be as sharp as the main subject.
Kindest Regards. Burnsie

Lovely shot, great colours.
We went to Guatemala where there is an active volcano and at dawn the glow is clearly seen, however during the day the peak is behind cloud.

Red Kite Fishing by Tonyd3

Red Kite Fishing

Quote: Whilst I have seen red kites on many occasions and am well aware that they don't land on the ground to feed on carrion rather snatch it and fly away I've never heard nor seen a kite snatch from the surface of the water. Any idea what it snatched from the surface?
Jim

I too was thinking the very same thing, is this a first for Red Kites? if so you may have changed the text books.
Great shot.

Anatomy of a sunrise by marktc

Anatomy of a sunrise

Congrates on the GEA, great set of the changing light of dawn.

A brief history to the tower.
The Spinnaker tower was originally to be called the millennium tower, however the tower was 6 years late in the construction, hence the change in its name.
The lift that was constructed is very unique in that it was designed to operate even though the tower moves and sways. The opening ceremony had the Mayor of Portsmouth going up in the lift with other distinguish guests, however the lift failed and got stuck about 40' up and was like this for some hours.
I was there that day and it was more than a little embarrassing for Portsmouth CC.
I am not sure if the lift ever fulfilled its purpose thereafter.

carlton marshes by ninpo135

carlton marshes

Great effort this, I am not sure what camera or lens you are using, however if you are able to do the following, IMHO this will assist in this type of shot.
You can keep the DOF as this looks ok, however you need to turn the auto focus to manual and focus in by hand.
Change the multi-segment to spot and as Huddersfieldhil says get the spot on the eye for sharpness.

BG is good, the FG twig and leaves will not completely go due to the closeness to the subject, however the above advice will make the bird pop from the image.
I hope you find this helpful.

RIP by BURNSIE

RIP

Many thanks Nathan, I admit that these shots are often a good % of luck, however I set the camera on a tripod, set the focus to manual on a predetermined point and set the shutter to continuous at 11 FPS. When I saw the birds leave the trees I hit the shutter and this is the result. Kindest regards.
