This is a juvenile Great Grey owl, just learning to fly and scheduled to star on the ICBP Owl evenings. I had exposed to get this shot with the sun behind me but the owl flew into the sun and in front of a big hedge and I had no time to re-calibrate. I was glad I didn't because can't imagine being able to replicate this lucky shot. It proves what you always hear about these owls - that their bodies are a lot smaller than they appear to be under all those feathers. I thought she looked rather undressed...
