I know they're not to everyones taste but I quite like mono flower portraits.

This is excellent work
Subtle and nicely understated. Well lit and in perfect focus.
I've played around with a few mono conversions of images of flowers and I've found that there's a huge amount you can achieve with just a little patience and experimentation.
Roses seem to work particularly well, dafs. aren't bad either. I think it's because of the texture rather than their shape. You get lots of tiny but interesting shadows to conjure with!
