Hi all, I've just returned from the Red Arrows display at Newcastle, Co. Down, and as promised heres the results of my efforts.
Thanks to all the pre-show advice I received from you all a few days ago I feel I have not done a bad job this time.
These are a few of the shots I got and I am hoping for your honest critique on how I managed the task.
All of the images can be seen on my web site.
Thanks again for the advice.
John

All great shots my fav is the first one. You were lucky it was dull in Blackpool when I took mine! Im jealous!
View 3 gets my vote for the degree of difficulty. I've only acheived the crossover once after several tries. Well done. Sylvia
Excellent shots. It may be my eye sight but aren't V5 and V8 the same. I'm not sure what you could do to enhance them they are superb.
Graham.
Red 3 is the latest pilot to join the Red Arrows.......and she is FEMALE..........women drivers again.
Sorry Graham, version 3 / 5 are indeed the same.
Thanks all for your comments, very encouraging.
Hi John,
The sky in most of these is very blue and in V1, 2 and, to some extent 6, the whole image looks, to me, to be oversaturated.
I've uploaded a mod. of V1, although I'd guess the alterations would work just as well on the others.
I've "auto" adjusted the white balance using Lightroom 3 the cut back the saturation, increased (slightly) the brightness and a pushed the contrast a bit in CS5.
It's just toned it down a bit.
Just my opinion, hope you don't mind. (You did ask!)
Edit: Sorry! Uploaded the wrong one! You should be looking at my second one!
Bren.
I dont mind at all Bren, thats exactly what was asked for and wanted.
Your mod has indeed toned the shot down a little and is def an improvement.
I did have some colour problems with a few of the other shots that are not shown. I'd love to get into it a little further but this probably is'ent the best place.
Thanks for the tips and mod.
John
This was my third time to see the Red Arrows.
The first time I was not into photography, the second, armed with my camera, was a total wash out with very low cloud and a severly restricted display.
This show was in the most perfect conditions and I have to say, it was a brilliant spectacle and one of the best photographic oppertunities you will ever get.
Not to be missed.
Thanks everyone for your very pleasing comments and helpful pointers / mods.
John
