Most of my black bg shots are indoors with window lighting from above and behind, reflector if required. I haven't got round to getting a proper black bg, I use an old garden seat cushion which is dark green. As the light is from behind not much falls on the bg and it usually comes out fairly black. A few tweaks in PS soon gets it properly black.
