Taken during a brief break in the clouds yesterday. The golden ball on top of the church tower of St Lawrence West Wycombe. It was built in the 18th century for Sir Francis Dashwood and infamous for its association with the Hell Fire Club which met in the church and caves beneath. The ball call hold 6-8 people seated and commands views for miles around and is believed to have been used for members of the Hell Fire Club as a lookout. The building is front is the Mausoleum holding the graves of the Dashwood family.

Lovely setting - I like the inclusion of the sheep.
I'd be interested to know what the Hell Fire Club was all about. Sounds interesting.

Oh Carol the sheep in the fg balance your scene beautifully and the architectural feature pokes out of the greenery perfectly. Nice composition.
