Would you refuse a client request?
A rather strange request for little babies so very young. As you say, they couldn't hold their heads up, so would have been prone on the ground, making what I would imagine an awful photo. I think you were right to refuse.

Time to get the UA system sorted.
I give my UA's as and when I see the image(s), I don't shortlist any for the reasons/problems stated above. Only problem with doing that is that it's a dead cert that I will have given all my awards and then spot a real beauty Grin

Ross, you could say the same about any subject, landscapes, sunsets, butterflies etc. etc. The choice is yours, to look or not to look. Each and every one of us have our own pet subjects, mind being small critters. I enjoy what I photograph, and if my images give other people pleasure, then that's an added bonus. I don't intend to change my photographic subject, you can never please all of the people all of the time, but just to please a small number is what I try to do. The same goes for Louise, her pet subject is birds, she photographs them extraordinarily well, and she was rewarded today with a GEA, keep up the good work, Louise Smile

Anyone coming to Crete for their holidays this year?
I am British, now living in Crete, and would love to meet up with any ePZ members that may be coming over to Crete for their annual holidays.
Crete is a wonderful island, with so many photographic opportunities, I would love to share some of my favourite places with you.

Travelling from the US to the British Isles in May
If you're going to venture out of bonny Scotland for a day or two, then you can't miss out on the North Yorkshire Dales, for some of the best landscape photography.

my first camera
My first camera was a Kodak box brownie, inherited from my mother. I then went on to a Kodak instamatic, Olympus Trip, and now my favourite, a Panny Lumix TZ7. I'm all for simplicity, and very happy with the images the Panny produces, so why change again?

Visiting a well-loved location of mine only to find it ruined.
I keep losing my favourite locations for critter photography. So many people here have gone 'fence mad' here and all the little places I used to frequent for various butterflies/bugs and beasties have been fenced off. Really annoys me Sad

Ethics in Macro photography
All my subjects are photographed as living creatures. Most of them I have found very willing to pose for a photo shoot, others that are not so willing spend a few minutes in a jam jar in the 'fridge to cool their ardour before being photographed and put back outside in the sunshine to recover. I find a lot of very tired bees, photograph them, then give them a drop of honey, which they eagerly lap up before flying away. I don't believe in killing a photographic subject, not even a scorpion or hornet, they all have a right to live.

User Awards

Quote: Slightly off topic but a question I've been pondering for a while. I've received few awards and each one is gratefully received and I always thank the giver by p.m. I've given more awards than I've been given and while most people acknowledge personally or on the posted photo comments, some don't respond at all.

Now, I don't give awards or votes for reciprocal reasons but it would be good just to have my 'gift' acknowledged by a comment on one of my photos if a p.m. is too much to ask.

Am I expecting too much?

A very fair comment, in my opinion. On the rare occasions I have not received any acknowledgement of an award given, it does miff me somewhat, but that's the nature of some. Manners don't cost anything, and a short pm doesn't either.

User Awards
I, too, feel that the user award system has gone a little haywire now, To be able to give 4 awards per day has, to me, made the awards less 'special' than they were when you could only give one per day. I realise that you don't have to give 4 awards per day, but the mere fact that you can makes one feel that members will make use of the four awards, whatever. I feel that they are now being given to images that otherwise would have been overlooked for an award.

Why enter if you don't want it?

Quote: Hi, I have just seen in the for sale section a prize that was won in the ePhotozine Xmas draw and the reason for the sale QUOTE; " not something that I would use"
Why then enter the draw to win an item and take away the chance of someone who would use it?
Xmas spirit gone out the window.

Help needed with storing pictures
Do you just copy the folders and paste them onto an external hard drive? If so, what you have copied should be identical on the hard drive and viewable as on the pc.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this problem? Once or twice a day I get a blue screen with SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED appearing as a error message, the pc then closes down and re-opens. I am not at all computer-minded, so if there is an easy way to resolve this, I would be most grateful to hear of it.

What point and shoot camera for weddings?

Quote: Just shown this thread to my daughter,
something about private bits of anatomy being removed if a paid photographer tried using a toy camera at her wedding, was uttered.

I think I would remove the private bits of anatomy from the person who uttered the words 'toy camera' Sad
I use a point and shoot camera (Panasonic DMC-TZ7) and am very impressed with the results it gives.
Many people have commented that this little camera produces just as good an image as some of the highly expensive cameras,
