I have no idea what wild flower produces this seed-head, but I found it growing in a meadow, about 2 metres high, and covered in green, very prickly, oval-shaped seed-pods. This one had just burst open to reveal hundreds of dandelion-like seeds, and I thought it was rather pretty.

The light has caught the seed filaments very well - looks as though it is wind dipersed. Take some home to your garden and see what it produces.

You have captured the light on this so beautifully. I agree with Mavis, it appears to be a variety of milkweed. I'm not sure of the exact species. Butterflies love them.
