Time for a break from butterflies for a while. There are quite a number of hornets around at present, this beastie seemed to be staring me out, as if waiting for an opportunity to sting me.

Brilliantly caught - I always feel Hornets are the gentle giants of the wasp family. They seem to realise their size alone gives them some kind of protection!
