This rather menacing looking characted decided to pay my lounge a visit one evening, he was soon captured under a glass, did a quick photo shoot, and was despatched outside againSmile

Looks like a sting in the tail here, Carol: glad he obliged and allowed you to get such crisp shots before he was consigned to the big outdoors again.

Think I had something similar in the bedroom last night. You can hear them, but never see them. My arm is showing traces of their visit though.

What an unkind ( but guaranteed to get attention) title to give to such a beautiful creature. V1 is outstanding in its detail, V2 gives us a good view of the curved abdomen characteristic of ichneumon wasps and the very long ovipositor ( long, sticky out egg laying tube at the end of the abdomen). Two cracking shots doing this beauty full justice.

First off, thanks, Prabhu and Lynne, for the ID and the info!

Second, this IS a menacingly looking fella, Carol, but look at those beautiful rear legs and wings! Wow.

Utterly superb captures (pun fully intended) you've got here.
