This rather menacing looking characted decided to pay my lounge a visit one evening, he was soon captured under a glass, did a quick photo shoot, and was despatched outside again![]()

Ouch, looks lethal. A very sharp capture, Carol ![]()

That's one helluva long sting, you're brave.

What an unkind ( but guaranteed to get attention) title to give to such a beautiful creature. V1 is outstanding in its detail, V2 gives us a good view of the curved abdomen characteristic of ichneumon wasps and the very long ovipositor ( long, sticky out egg laying tube at the end of the abdomen). Two cracking shots doing this beauty full justice.
2 cracking captures Carol and thanks again for yesterdays flower ID

Think I'd be despatching him out of the house, too! Two stunning close-ups of him, though, Carol ![]()

It is a Braconid wasp. The ovipositor looks like tail.
Both worthy of their own uploads, if that was Ade in the fridge she would have gone!
Regards
Trev.
Excellent detail Carol - Love the wings in v1 - remind me of stained glass windows

fantastic captures, what a strange creature. I wouldn't like to be at the receiving end of that drill!
