An awful background, for which I apologise, but this beautiful chaser would not land on anything high up, and I had to be content with what I could get.
Thanks to Matt for the correct ID
Good morning Carol,
I think she's beautiful! Lovely gold colour hum?
Nice specimen. IB
Fantastically detailed wings.
BG doesn't really detract from the images Carol, still stunning.
Two splendid shots an I love the background, it gives context.
he is a beauty ... and those wings really are wonderful
two stunning detailed captures carol has to be half a vote each today can't split these two nice ones
Beautiful detail in the wings. Not bothered much by the background - dof is good, and the dragonfly is nicely separated - and it's in situ, so...
And I 'd say that what you've had is brilliant
fine detail in the wings Carol nice capture
They have to be close to your best ever.

Two lovely captures Carol.
Lovely Chaser detail, & tones Carol
Love the facial expression.
Well captured Carole
Version two for me just, I think it shows all that lovely detail in the wings off a little more.
Despite it's reluctance to play ball, you have still managed two fine detailed shots, Carol: I'd have been pleased with either of them.
Excellent and fantastic captures,Carol,well done,
Great captured despite the background
Fantastic shot well done
Maybe not the perfect background, Carol, but it's well out of focus and you've manipulated it well. The shape of the insect in v1 is excellent, which just tips it for me. Two fine captures.
Getting the shot is the main thing. What a beauty.
Terrific macro. Beautiful DoF. I can't fault the bg – it's great (the 'way it is').
Pleased to be vote #30.
I would be pleased with both Carol, V2 for me.
Great shots, love the eyes, so shiny I dont mind the bg
V1 particularly pleasing. The chaser just fits so nicely into the frame.
Great shots, Carol - wildlife rarely does what we want it to do, does it?
Snap!!! But I like your POV of V1 better than mine. Focus is spot on on the head. Great stuff Carol. Paul
2 nicely detailed close ups Carol. Moira
Beautifully captured Carol
There's nowt wrong with the background, Carol, it shows it's environment Two cracking close-ups, you should be proud of these

have to agree with Dave, great duo
We are never satisfied Carol - but good background or not it works for me! Lou
Not a Broad-bodied chaser Carol. I think its a female Red-veined Darter.
Nice point of view in both shots.
Two excellent images well captured Carol.
A couple of beauts Carol - well done ...Bill
You must be joking in saying you aplogise for the b/gs. in these fantastic images Carol, the rest of us would give an arm to get one such shot!
Can be better. TOP *****
So close!! Well captured, Carol, and congrats on the GEA!
Awesome detail in these close ups Carol, glad to see that your work is finally being recognised in the form of a well deserved GEA. I think you'd better update the title or the Big O will be picking you up on that!
