This is one of the many varieties of wild rose to be found here in Crete, and the only evergreen variety. It produces long climbing branches and flowers profusely. It can be found in forested areas and thickets.

The background may look a little 'smudgy', but this photo was taken in situ, in a thicket, and has just been cropped slightly and a border added.
