I went back to the meadow again yesterday, hoping to see some long tailed blues, but no luck. However, there were tens of swallowtails enjoying the yellow fleabane, so I couldn't resist taking a few pics of them. Here are a couple that I thought worth uploading, I was pleased to see that this one had a near-perfect tail, so many of them are looking rather tatty now.

Lovely photos ! I prefer V1 although V2 gives better detail taken from above. Excellent caotures - you must have had a good time doing this Smile

Two stunning photographs depicting this wonderfully detail 'Swallow Tail Butterfly' Carol. Each one so very worthy of their own upload. However I do think that photograph number one has the edge. Love the processing and fine presentation.

A superbly marked and coloured butterfly, Carol, which you have captured in quite exquisite detail: V 1 seems the more appealing to me, as the line of the insect's body and the flower stem are sitting parallel and on the diagonal, and the lighting is particularly good.

The detail in version 2 is better than 1 as the plane of focus is just throwing the tip of the wing out of focus in 2
but having said that 2 good images
