You stand waiting for a bus which never comes, then all of a sudden two turn up at the same time
. This is what happened to me. A grave shortage of mantis this year, I didn't think I was going to spot any, when I saw the little brown one running along the drive, closely followed by my cat! I quickly retrieved him and placed him on a nearby plant, turned around, lo and behold there was a green mantis watching the antics from another plant! A quick photo shoot, and the pair were released into the bougainvillea hedge, safely out of harm's way.

Pin sharp and most pleasing capture, nicely lit

A time capsule buried at Jersey Zoo in 1988 contains the following popular quote by Durrell, often used in conservation awareness campaigns:
We hope that there will be fireflies and glow-worms at night to guide you and butterflies in hedges and forests to greet you.
We hope that your dawns will have an orchestra of bird song and that the sound of their wings and the opalescence of their colouring will dazzle you.
We hope that there will still be the extraordinary varieties of creatures sharing the land of the planet with you to enchant you and enrich your lives as they have done for us.
We hope that you will be grateful for having been born into such a magical world.
Durrel was also a lover of all insects and animals found in Greece... Those two of yours are devine! Good capture with so much on offer... Have a lovely day IB
Like the both once again Carol, two excellent macros and share the votes.
Regards
Trev.

What a fitting epitaph for your two very fine images Carol.
'Do you come here often?'
I think you have set up a blind date here.

So that's how you do it, you get your cat to go and hunt them down!! Lovely '69' arrangement, Carol, excellent images.

Two cracking captures, Carol, hard to choose between the two, so I won't, and it's half a vote for each! ![]()

Reminds me of the Grand old Duke of York! When they were up they were up and when they were down they were down! Super capture. Sylvia
I was out yesterday, but had to have a look at your upload, and so glad I did, I think it's wonderful, Carol.
I'm lichen these both very much Carol, not many insects around here now despite the weather being good today.
How extraordinary! I have now seen green and brown in totally different places, even an alfalfa and green one, but two different colours in the same place is something else.
One to be proud of!
