This beautifully marked creature landed on my thumb whilst I ws trying to take a photo, so I quickly changed hands and snapped him!

Its a Shield Bug. We can see it's markings perfectly, but I think the contrast needs a bit of a tweak. Not an easy shot to take one handed, well done!

Yes this goes to prove you don't always need to have a tripod for macro work you must have a very steady hand Carol! I agree with all of the above but especially Andrew I was admiring the silvery appearance too! Some of these creatures look really beautiful close up
