A small preying mantis, captured in the autumn, enjoying his dinner
V.3 is a very poor record shot of the first mantis I have spotted this year, only the size of my little finger nail, and looking rather angry at being photographed
Erm... gore and horror first thing on a Monday, shocking
V2 is my favourite and how you managed to even see the chap in v3 let alone photograph it is beyond me.... Superb work as always Carol!
I am amazed how these Preying Mantis subjects of yours always keep their eyes on you - even in V2 where it is eating it is watching you And what on earth is in V3 ? A leprous Mantis Excellent as always Carol !
Wow! Bugs are definately not my cup of tea but jeepers Carol you make them look good
Fantastic set of images
Like Herman I have noticed that the mantis shots nearly always show them watching what you are about, Carol: very curious insects?
Don't recall seeing one eating it's meal before like this but there again my memory sometimes fails me.
Bet he's thinking you not getting any of this its mine. super shots Carole V2 my fave.
Excellent as always Carol, if a little gory....
Happy New Year Carol.
Yummy indeed 3 super shots. Woke up to no snow which is good.
Bit early in the morning for all that gore....
V3 really is wonderful. How on earth you spotted him I have no idea.
Great photos as always
The 'record shot ' is very impressive, I'd never have guessed this ugly little critter could grow into v 1 or2!
Many thanks for the award, I'll write to you later
Enjoying his dinner. But still finding time to pose...
Y u m!
I am so glad I've had my breakfast!!
Excellent images Carol, love the detail,
Amazing find Carol. fabulous shots.
V2 is fantastic although it looks as though he is giving it a kiss.
They do always look so pleased with themselves
Superb set Carol.
How would you feel if someone photographed you eating breakfast!!!
Nicely captured, Carol, and well spotted in v3, so small.
Do you use a macro lens for all your images Carol
or telescopic zoom?
It is amazing the tiny things you bring to our screens
and with such clarity. The mantis do always appear to be looking at you.
Have an RC on me Carol.
Looks like the kiss of death. Excellent shots Carol.......Sandy
good POV Carol
I love V2. I can almost hear him chomping.
1 and 2, spot on carol.
Great close-ups, Carol.
Very strange creatures Carol, very good photo's V2. for me, regards Leon,
As Hermanus says, these creatures always seem to be looking at the camera! Brilliant work again Carol, and think I go for V2 as my fave
I always love these little fellows though have only ever "met" them on epz. I'm wondering about that eye contact business. You don't think they may just possibly be eyeing you up for the next meal?
Amazing macro photography Carol.
Stunning pictures, love V2 eating and looking direct at the camera. Bob
tthink ill pass that menu ! brilliant set of nature shots at there rawist
Cor blimey Carol, and here is me thinkin that these were friendly little critters...

Top draw shots carol
V2 for me, with the fly
Snow overnight and into the early afternoon
Stunning images Carol, your knees must be worn out by now
Those little guys will stare down a camera every time
Has to be v2 Carol - a very mannered eater if I dare say.
V2 for me also. Fractionally sharper than V1 but all great macro shots.
A grand set Carol, these little fellas certainly know how to pose for the camera
An amazing set Carol, but much more V2. I like the way it is looking the camera while is eating.
Aww! The one in V3 is so small?? So cute Good capture, actually, considering its size!
And excellent action shots in Vs 1 and 2, Carol. Talk about timing
Your gallery is teaching me so much more about bugs and beasties than I think I want to know Carol, your macro work brings them right into this room, what's really bothering me, is I think I'm starting to like them, and THAT"S scarey!!
Incredible takes! Very lovely insect!
