The Red Kite ( milvus milvus )
A most beautiful bird in my view. Not too long ago it was nearly wiped out due to poisoning and hunting by mis informed people but now, thanks to a great conservation effort, can be readily seen particularly in Wales and the Chiltern area of England. I get them regularly over my house in the Reading area.
A great success story.
This bird is a captive bird and can be seen at the Hawk Conservancy at Weyhill.

As ever many many thanks to all those who spared time for c/c's on the Grey Heron. I am most grateful.
Ron

It is a superb bird, posing to perfection for this fine shotExcellent detail.
Excellent detail captured and with a nice catch of light in the eye.
The dark b/g helps show it off so well.

Ron, That is a stunning image and as you said a wonderful bird. We are lucky in that we live only a few miles from the Red Kite trail in Dumfries & Galloway. There are now over 80 pairs around the area and the we have a pair nesting less than a mile from the house GrinGrin
