Introducing you to Tabs, affectionately known as scabby tabby. As it is very thin and has very matted fur.
v2 shows the state of its fur more, but neither show how thin it is as its deceptive with the long hair.
Pic taken with my mobile phone, so apologies for the quality.

I dont yet know who owns this cat, i've been feeding it for a couple of weeks, and have managed to flea and worm it, and is already looking healthier. It doesnt have a collar on.

My next mission, is to get it into a catbox and down to the vets to see if it is micro chipped.

It is very timid but seems like a nice cat, and i am a soft touch. if it has no micro chip i'll try to get it dematted while at the vets, cos it is beyond brushing Sad

This little one already has a place in my heart, but hubby says no more cats!

hope yours is a good holiday weekend.
lesley x

And that's exactly why Chris warned you against falling for it Smile

SO nice seeing Scabby so big on EPZ, Ccat. The quality is so good at this size from your mobile!

He has to be one of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen, it has to be said.

And doesn't look at all 'Difficult' Wink

Andrew, i tried gently brushing him with a soft brush but hissed at me, so stopped. So no push over! had some fuss after though so not to perturbed. and eating from the cat box with the bowl in the door way, so things are looking good.

Oh this happened to me and a stray, but the poor cat who sort of adopted me was riddled with disease and my cat hated him so I was on to a loser from the start. He finally died on my lawn but I did my best for him. Sad. Sad Hope things turn out well for you.

A very well taken image of your new adoptee Lesley. Hope you can track down the owner eventually.
One of ours (wolfy) disappeared for a while recently, he did a runner just after we decided he need to have his teeth cleaned.

total disaster!!!! managed to get tabs in the cat carrier, but in the time it took me to get the car out of the garage he had gone bolistic, turned it over and managed to break out of one of the hand holes in the top. I can only hope that he hasnt injured himself in the escape. No idea if he will ever come back. needless to say i've removed the cat carrier, left some food, and will keep my distance and try and rebuild his trust. but if he needs help i'll have to get the RSPCA involved.
i'm gutted and feel really bad, instead of improving the situation i've made it worse Sad(

don t be to hard on yourself at least you care andyou tried, if he is hungrey he will be backand maybe you will get another chance, good on you for caring

When we had a feral cat who came to the farm to have her kittens, we borrowed a humane trap from the local (5 mins down the road!) Blue Cross Centre - a cage which you bait with a smelly irrisistable meal (tuna worked for us!). The cat goes in and the door shuts behind them. The Blue Cross then neutered the adult female (we had her back and can now stroke her - on her terms) and they kept/re-homed the kittens.

I'm sure the RSPCA would have the same traps that they would be willing to lend you.

thanks Karen. i have thought about that option, but one of my cats is food obsessed and concerned that he will get caught in it and get traumatised. i will have to if he needs medical attention. not seen him yet, hope he comes back.

i notice that Tabs has got some superficial grazes on his left shoulder where he forced himself out of the catbox, thankfully they are nice and dry and healing. I'm surprised and relieved that he has forgiven me!

You may well have to adopt him, and I think he will have a superb home. Found a long-hair like this in Norway a couple of years ago - you are right. The long fur is deceptive - the one we found had his bones and spine poking out all over - he has been taken in by a loving family.

A nice mog, Lesley. You're a woman after my own heart. We no longer have our two, but there's a neighbour's puss who's kind of adopted us, which is the opposite of your situation, but lovely all the same.
