My darling, beautiful Poppy departed today. She'd been very ill for some time and her poor little body finally had to be laid to rest. She'd had enough. It was bittersweet to see her this morning have walk around the garden, in the rain, visiting her usual places. It was almost as if she knew what was coming and was having one last stroll around her favourite haunts. She has joined her sister Heather who died a couple of years ago and they are both now at peace under our lawn. How quiet the house is.

That's a good age...
They do become a part of the family, and we do miss them when they go. Our Sooty made it to nearly 18, despite favouring a diet that had the vet throwing her hands up in horror. (She was particularly fond of curry, Marmite and chocolate ice cream).

They always know when it is time.................we have an aged one (Archie) he has arthritis and he is showing his age..............he has all the comforts we can give him and his medicine............but he will tell us when he has enough of this life...........![]()

Oh Chris - I'm so very sorry. I do love cats - they are such precious animals. I've never had one but would really love one, but I never will. We have a lot where we live and I'm a surrogate mum to one of them who only has three legs. I do feel for you - this is a beautiful pic of your Poppy.... ![]()

Oh Chris, I feel so for you. Been there and done this - we lost our Mitzie when she was 22 - a bit older than Poppy - a good old age and more time to get attached to them.
She looks to have been a very sweet cat, and I know how you will miss her, and yes the house suddenly becomes very, very quiet.
Anne
Two lovely images, so sad to loose a family pet
Hugh
Yes, it's very sad when you lose them - mine was 19 when she died
She looks very sad also in these two images, but yet very beautiful. At least you have the images to remember her by Chris.

What a good age she reached, Chris. We (Bodil and I) feel for you. We were at the vets on Monday with our two (9 yo) and the vet found a heart irregularity in Gidget. We are not very happy at the moment and are waiting for an ecg on her.
They are far more than "just animals" as some people think.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved pet, she lived to a great age, the same as our Daisy. These are two lovely images to remember her by, Ed
V1 is fantastic and you have all those lovely memories to help you.

Night-night Poppy. Have fun at Rainbow Bridge with all your friends xxxx
sooo sorry...this moments hearts and soul are weaping...felt same in 2011, lost 3 oldies(17) from 1 couple within 5 month...2 of them looking like yours...they all were lost souls without a chance to live more than some weeks, knocking at our door, accepting our 2 collies and stayed 4 a long, wonderful time...
be sure they live in a country over the rainbow and keep them in your heart...
thinking of you...
oh dear I know exactly how this feels , I have buried some cats in my life... and it will always break my heart.
Chris' tom Oliver lived a 20 1/2 years like yours, it is really a good inning and I'm sure you loved her dearly. Hope you still got another cat to comfort you!
