Although the name Glasgow means "dear green place", like all big cities it has it's less pretty bits.......this is one such, Gordon Lane.
My thanks to all who commented on Mixed Bouquet and to Ruth {Ruthannette} for her User Award.

Saw the title and expected a portrait, Ronnie!
Has to be b&w I feel. Colour wouldn't bring out the same amount of detail, I think.

Least you picked a decent back lane Ronnie clean and tidy and named after you probably explains the beer barrels tisk!! well suited to the mono production Ronnie and once agaid thats for the UA rounded off a bad day nicely ![]()

A messy, mish-mash, melange of miscellany, Ronnie... but, as pointed out, it is litter-free. Attention to composition and the mono conversion has produced a fine image.

This is universal somehow, the story of our Victorian city centres. Smart modern shop fronts, grotty back alleys. Dustbins, window bars, drainpipes, anti-vandal defences. A couple of kitchen staff on a fag-break.
I'm surprised that there aren't two sets of double yellow lines - in one of Newcastle's back lanes they almost touch in the middle!

Probably some evening entertainment down here Ronnie, not the place to go at night Sir.
Dougie
I quite like Glasgow but I don't think the back street at night would be a fav haunt. Great shot though.![]()
Every city has its back streets Ronnie, the clarity in this is excellent and perfect for mono, I seem to remember many years ago in Glasgow very tall flats by the side of smoke stacks! On some days you could not see the top flats as they were in the smoke, that is going back some years, not sure if it is still the same now if they have not been pulled down?
Regards
Trev.
Excellent shot, really works well ass amono
Hugh
As a great fan of the imperfect, I just have to love this shot.
Well seen photo opportunity and shown in mono is works, I have seen a few back streets fairly similar surprising in some ways with today's modern approach to life but shows how the other side lives
Very well taken and worked Ronnie, capturing the feel of the place VERY well.

Ronnie, great mono.......fine detail and clarity, and use of a off centre pov gives a nice line to a composition with great tone........very nice mate.
Paul.
Smashing picture... What a great view of the back side. You know what, here in K.demansara there are many back lanes like that
Have to agree with Herman, there's a certain neatness to the grottiness Ronnie, but what were YOU doing skulking around in back alleys!
Take it this is behind Gordon St., used to buy my suits at Hector Powe, and bought my wife's engagement ring at a jewellers there!
Rgds., Jim
A good image showing us Glaswegian grime and grot, I'm sure Mikbee would be in his element exploring these seedy side streets. You are a brave man hanging around in these less than salubrious haunts, I never thought you'd frequent such places!![]()
