Looks like my sigma macro lens is knackered again. A year or more ago the limit switch jammed and I had it fixed. This evening I inadvertently flicked the switch and now the blasted thing grinds like crazy although will work on manual - but keeps making rather a lot of noise Sad I've tried it on both cameras just to make sure.

Now - do I get it fixed again or think about replacing it with something else? I've always fancied a longer macro but am not sure the cash-flow right now is up to a new lens.

bum bum bum bum bum bum etc. etc.

Oh I've been a boringly good girl yet again this year but a new macro costs anywhere between around 350 to 550 depending on what I get Sad

That said Sony do a 2.8 30mm macro for around 150 which might be the more realistic option for now!

Hope it was not the new camera that caused the problem ! !

Nope - it was me stupidly switching the limit switch that caused the problem - happily the new camera is just fine and dandy Smile

I have just doubled checked that I've entered the Xmas draw for the Tamron macro - digits crossed Smile

I missed a few days of the prize draw but found out that you can at least still catch up. Hope you win the Tamron, I just got a slightly older model from mpbphotographic recently. Quality lens, this new model will be even better.

Fingers are firmly crossed - having looked around before the Tamron is definitely on my list of wants - has been for a while.

Sadly December brings gas/electric bill, house insurance and of course Christmas - I will not be spending lots of money on goodies this month Sad

I've ordered a set of extension tubes to play with for now - until I can stretch to a new Macro lens - just thought you'd like to know Smile
