As usual the image in my head didn't make it to the camera - but there's plenty of time to try again Smile

There something quite medieval about this still life arrangement: beautifully and subtlely illuminated.
Ronnie.

Great still life, brilliant lighting and a lovely bit of blue cheese....(Stilton?). Don

Another superb composition, it makes you want to reach out a cut some cheese. Masterful

Love the texture of the cloth it's all sitting on.

Its a real good composition Al Smile

But that blend of diffused and harsh light and all its distractions kinda bounces the brain to settle.

Has all the makings of a classic piece.

Slapped a mod.

Medieval indeed, and it may not be the image in your head but the one that meets our eyes is sumptuous.
My mind's eye adds some dust motes in the light ... just a thought and not sure how you would achieve that (not tricky in my house Tongue )

I like the dark areas and the moody light. Lovely shot.

Thanks folks - it's heading in the right direction but has yet to arrive Smile

Like the mod erm Smile I tried a bit of diffuse glow on it for a change to soften it up a bit rather than my usual dollop of Topaz Adjust but the background just didn't really look real. Maybe for one I should find either some real background rather than the plain white or find a better texture to add.

Happily I have Monday off so several days to try again. I'd love to find an old pewter plate too though - maybe an excuse to wander out on Monday and see what I can find.

Dust motes eh Jacqui? I shall consider that a challenge and see if I can figure out how to do it Smile

Super picture one of the best still life I have seen in a long time.

I have uploaded a mod where I did a HDR in topaz adjust and changed the blend to colour to bring out that red. Added a little edge darkening to bring it back more to your image. Hope you like it.

Thanks again everyone - I was tempted to do some more still life pics this evening but need to find something else to cobble together now!

Thanks for the mods guys - as usual I find it interesting and helpful to see variations on my pics.
