I just can't make up my mind about this one - on one hand I like it, on the other it's not quite right but I have yet to figure out why.
Having deliberated for too long however I've decided to upload it - maybe when I revisit this page tomorrow I'll see what needs doing - or not.....

Sometimes less is more, I might consider ditching the bird's nest and the shells. Also, I can't quite work out the background.... there's a table but what is behind it... and you've textured it. Sorry, can't work out what I'm supposed to be seeing. There's lot's of posibilities here though, I just think it needs rearranging a bit and something great will emerge ![]()
Thanks folks ![]()
Yep Arrietty - it was one of those evenings where I just couldn't get it right
The background is plain brown fabric with some black voile which was supposed to look like a curtain but I reckon I chose the wrong colour - first mistake. I think I need some rougher background fabric so I can try something without the texture (I'm afraid I'm a sad sucker for playing with textures) - I'll have a rummage through my fabric boxes - or the charity shops - and see what I can find.
I think the table is just a bit too small as well - it's a rather small round table so that did slightly hamper me.
or maybe I was just having a bad evening!
Great shot !.....love the content in this image, all nicely arranged.....with the candle-light adding to the 'forlorn' state of the skull & dried flowers.!!!!
On my screen, there seems to be a 'blue-mistiness' mainly in the shadow areas....so I've taken the liberty of doing a mod. to reduce this ?, plus a
couple of other tweaks to 'lift' it a touch & emphasize the warmth of the lighting......makes a cracking shot ....love it !!!!!!
Well I like it .... very sombre andscarey in a way
Thanks folks - maybe I'll try again later today - if the hole where my wisdom tooth used to be doesn't give me grief (the anaesthetic hasn't worn off yet)...
It is definitely blue Keith - I was messing about with some cross processing filters and came across this one so kept it.
I approve the mod though - maybe I'll root out the original to put up.
For some reason the Sony R1 has trouble with the white balance under lights - it's fantastic as far as sync speed goes which I why I like to use it with strobes - but white balance is very temperamental. I really should shoot this stuff in RAW ![]()
