Another smoky arrangement - this time a different candle-holder as I'm currently mangling a new candle in the pewter one.
I have learned that I need beeswax candles to get some decent drips so suppose one day I'll have to invest my hard-earned ......

Thanks folks 
I guess the trouble is I like macabre - and if I try to go for the vanitas style of pics then it's all about life/death doom/gloom I reality I'm not remotely macabre - I just like the style
I've got a new candle on the go at the moment and maybe I'll try that out this evening in a more simple arrangement - that'll be a challenge for me to keep the props out of the pic!
Nothing wrong with a nice bit of death and gloom now and again !

I had to go and google 'vanitas' and images. mmmm, interesting but I think that your doll head doesn't work as well as a skull, that seems to be used in most of the pictures, does alas, but I suppose skulls aren't so easy to get hold of!! As for candles, just wave the candle about and wax will drip down the sides or else just cut a couple of little notches and that encourages drips,
