The picture is titled Torch as it was suggested by a good pal that it resembled the Olympic torch
Shot in natural light against the wrapping paper and given the Cybia Edgeworks plus negative image treatment.

I hoped this would get an EC, congratulations K.
Congrats, very nice indeed!!.
Reminded me of an illustrated Isaac Asimov book I had as a child.
Hey guys - thank you all and thanks Pete for the EC - my first one ever and I'm chuffed to bits! Oh dear, I'm going to be grinning like a loon for ages now!
Excellent shot. Well composed and presented. click!!
Enjoy the EC Alison, they make your week I can tell you.
Anyway, great work - lovely lighting and toning.
Superb again - the treatment works so well and the composition and lighting are ace. Nice one. Bruce.

WWWOOO HHHHOOO, well done on the EC award, great work Alison well deserved.
It works really well for me. Congrats on the EC well deserved.
Thanks again everyone - I'm still smiling
I'm actually managing to refine my technique with this filter as it does tend to produce some unwanted sharp edges. I think I've finally come up with a method that doesn't necessarily speed up the process but does make it a bit easier. I'm sure you all really wanted to know that
Excellent tones Alison, congrats on EC,
Congratulations on EC
Cracking pic Alison, love it.

congrats on EC,great work
Very many congrats. Superb piece of work.
Beautiful tones, well done on EC!
Thank you again everyone - a what a nice week this is turning out to be
I'm just trying to decide whether to upload another wooden man shot tonight (the thumbnail will look awful) or a feather - I shall ponder a little longer
Missed this earlier, still love that toning and this time no nasty highlight to spoil it
I had just enough of that wrapping paper to stick one length on a sheet of A3 grey board to provide a totally smooth background another length which I attach with clothes-pegs to provide a more undulating effect. Either way, the background is now big enough to do away with that highlight! Now the challenge is to keep the paper clean and tidy - I'm going to have to sort out a case of some sort I think.
Alison, I am so sorry I have been so busy of late, have missed so many shots, this is great and also a big congrats on EC award.
Thank you Barb for your comment and congratulations.
I appreciate how hard it is to keep up - I tend to dash about the site clicking like a loon and only comment when I have either something useful or silly to say
Lovely and unusual image! Just discovered your portfolio via the forum link looks like the 9500 for me too!
Thanks Kath - glad to hear you've made your decision about the camera. I'm still trying to convince myself that I really don't need another one
Superb and well thought out image!
Thank you Patrick
very interesting image, superb idea and very well shot too. Like the PS treatment too!!
Thanks Ben - I'm too full of vodka to say more
I don't know how I missed this Alison. Superb photography and a very well deserved EC.
Great tones, good bw treatment.
First class Alison. Very worthy of its 'EC' award.
Time for another thank you I've shot the hand holding various other flowers but none have worked out as well as this one. I'll keep trying though!
Lovely tonal Quality. Pooch
excellent use of colour and tone
Sounds perfect. Very well taken.
Cracking shot well deserved EC.
I finally printed it out the other day and it came up really quite well. It's nice to actually print them every now and then
I love the lighting and the toned finish in this.
Thank you David - I must admit that I still like this picture - sometimes I get bored with my old ones but this remains a favourite. It prints up nicely to A3 too
Still very amaze with all the props you use to create stunning image.
Thank you Sohfian - I think I might try to find a wooden foot next and see what I can do with that
congratulations on a very well deserved EC - feels great when you get your first one doesn't it =)
a great image - the composition works so well - the textures and lighting and a nice original idea =)
peter "morpyre" turner
Hi Peter - thanks for stopping by! It is indeed very satisfying to earn an EC - trouble is once you have one you want another and I've yet to impress Pete sufficiently again
I'm happy with what I'm managing to produce though (usually) so shall settle for that!
Wow! Awesome shot and good use of light.
Hi Gregor - thank you for taking a look! I think I should dig out this hand again sometime and see what else can be done with it - actually I've two hands so maybe I'll try both together.
Very powerful image. Nice.
