I guess this should really go in as a version, but it's a bit late now so thought I'd upload as a new image...

I've been meaning to get back to mono for some time now but keep getting caught up in 'pretty colours' so this is a bit of an experiment for me.

I know that B&W tends not to go down very well on the site, but I like it!

Thanks for looking, C&C welcome...

Chris Smile

A cracking image Chris, would liked to have seen a bit more drama in sky with a bit of burning in. The sky in the colour version showed potential but seems to have lost it a bit in the conversion.

Thanks all...

Agree about the sky Chris - unfortunately my system crashed at that stage and PS refuses to work now! Hope to get things working again soon so I might be able to work it further Smile

Cheers

call me controversial but i'm prefering the colour version. Maybe with some work on the sky with a touch more contrast and maybe add some grain?

Well composed - a nice image. Agree with earlier comment that the sky needs more contrast and I think this is not far off a great mono conversion.

I prefer this to the colour version. I think the subject lends itself well to black and white

Hi all,

many thanks for the comments. Have been without a laptop for a few days thanks to a dodgy graphics card, but back up & running now!

Agree that this needs more contrast so have re-worked & added as a version. Hope this is better!

Thanks again for the feedback, really useful Smile

a well thought out composition, and it works very well IMO...who cares if black and whites aren't as popular...this one should be!

Thanks Phil!

Have dodged a bit more around the house / lighthouse & I think it does make a difference, so cheers for that Nick!

Version 2 for me , I love that sky . Every picture tells a story and this one says if you don't be carefull round the rocks with your boat you will end up with a cross . Good composition and good rendering of that sky . xx
