Beautiful demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo), immature male, wingspan 40mm, length 45mm, main flying period late May-Aug. Captured at Shalfleet 23 May 2010.
Aperture priority, 1/250 sec, f5.6, ISO 200, centre weighted, monopod. Please view large.

Award winning photo in my opinion.
Wow, the colors are just amazing.
Look at those shades of sienna and gold in the wings
the iridescent metallic blue of the body as if armor plated...
All the detail and wonderful contrast of pale green.
One for the books for sure.
